May 25th is our Annual Open Garden and Plant Sale sponsored by The Alaska Rock Garden Society. We will be open from10:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m. Come see the gardens, buy plants for your rock garden, borders, vegetable gardens or trees and shrubs. It is a great opportunity to get ideas from professionals, be inspired and visit with other dedicated gardeners. We look forward to seeing you!
This will be our last year of doing weddings and at this time we are fully booked. We will miss the fun and excitment of weddings and special events but are really looking forward to truly being retired and enjoying time putting the garden in shape. You are always welcome to come by and say Hi!, have a cup of coffee and talk apples and rock gardens.
Doug and Florene Carney, owners of Snowfire Gardens, are both avid gardeners and plantspeople. Florene has been a Master Gardener since 1998 and has grown gardens and yards all her life. Rock Gardening is her passion as well as a little quilting on the side (Winter activity) Doug is the orchard, berry person and loves to graft anything that has even a slight chance of working. He is a carpenter, handyman, and golfer as well.
Both are retired from the Mat-Su Schools and love spending hours in the gardens. Sometimes with just a cup of coffee or glass of wine in a chair on the hill. Stop by and join us sometime.
We, along with Doug's brother and sister and their spouses celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary this year. Can you believe 150 years of marrieage between the three couples. A wonderful celebration was planned by the family and held at Snowfire.
