This is our busy time of year! Weddings, Garden Club visits, maintenance, scheduling for next year and planning how we can better serve our clients. The Alaska Rock Garden Society is planning a fall rock garden plant sale - stay tuned for that.
We've added some new serving pieces for our brides to use. Large glass containers with spigots for serving punch, lemonade or iced tea. (or maybe a beautiful Sangria!) There is a large three gallon jug that could be used for fancy water, and three chaffing dishes. We also have eight white ware platters with cut-out hearts around the edges. Yours to use at no extra charge.
At Snowfire we offer a beautiful Venue for any event you'd like to have in a peaceful and serene setting. We have a few plants for sale and offer garden advice if it is requested.
This year our clients will be able to choose edible flowers from our gardens for the buffet tables. We grow everything organically so you can count on blossoms being safe as well as beautiful.
We can also make up small organza bags filled with lavender blossom to give each guest. They can be taken home for that special linen closet or the blossoms used to toss at the bride and groom as they leave the ceremony. These are $2.00 each and can be made up in a variety of color choices.
Doug and Florene Carney, owners of Snowfire Gardens, are both avid gardeners and plantspeople. Florene has been a Master Gardener since 1998 and has grown gardens and yards all her life. Rock Gardening is her passion as well as a little quilting on the side (Winter activity) Doug is the orchard, berry person and loves to graft anything that has even a slight chance of working. He is a carpenter, handyman, and golfer as well.
Both are retired from the Mat-Su Schools and love spending hours in the gardens. Sometimes with just a cup of coffee or glass of wine in a chair on the hill. Stop by and join us sometime.
We, along with Doug's brother and sister and their spouses celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary this year. Can you believe 150 years of marrieage between the three couples. A wonderful celebration was planned by the family and held at Snowfire.
